Canoe rental customer requirements and desires vary significantly.
Over the last quarter century of renting canoes, we have always resisted the “one size fits all” approach of renting what’s commonly described as “General Purpose, Basic or Standard Canoes.” That approach might be easy but we never found we had “general, basic or standard” customers. Study the rental descriptions that we provide and you will see all the unique features. Our goal is to provide you with the informational tools to make the best choice for your situation. Going one additional step, we also provide the convenience of on line booking as well as conventional booking.
WE TAKE PROVIDING EXTRA CANOE FEATURES SERIOUSLY.
Check out some `of the extraordinary features found in the majority of our rental canoes. These added value features can help make your time on the water a more rewarding experience. Note: some options may not be present in all canoes. (Naturally you wont find “sliding bench seats” or a conventional yoke on a solo canoe.) Email if you have any concerns about how the canoe you are renting will be outfitted.
Sliding front seats
This feature allows you to easily adjust the trim of your canoe so that it rides level, taking advantage of the sharp entry line for steering purposes; Also handy if you find yourself with ‘oncoming’ seas. Rather than take water over the bow, slide the seat back so the bow rides up over the waves. The seats are ‘friction-fit’, which means your weight, when seated, will keep the seat in place.
Comfortable Bucket or Tractor style seats
Tractor style seats are placed low enough so you never have to kneel to get your centre of gravity down for stability. Bucket seats are a comfortable tractor type seat. They feature a slight raise at the back to gently cup your derriere (hey, millions of farmers can’t be wrong). Seats also feature drainage points so won’t have to sit in water.
Foam thigh pads
Located in both the bow and stern providing all day comfort in the the area your legs contact the gunnel. Whats more, utilizing these pads increases the control you have over the canoe. If one of your passengers suddenly decides to lean out over the edge – you’ll be able to control the canoe just using your legs and hips.
Wooden yokes with added foam padding for a comfortable portage
Adjustable foot brace
In the stern you will likely find an adjustable footbrace system. If you have ever paddled in a seated position with your feet not braced, you probably remember having a sore shoulder, neck and back by the end of the day.
