Driving from Winnipeg:
This map takes you to the “put in” spot at the Pinawa Diversion Dam. At the very end of route 211 you will arrive at a parking lot. (dead end)
This event is a “channel float and return hike” from the Diversion Dam to Suspension Bridge and back
Float and Hike
#1 Meet at Pinawa Diversion Dam
- Check in with the Winnipeg Canoe Rental employees and pay for your group. At this time, you will be free to choose your tube and whatever safety equipment you’ll need on your journey. You may also give us a bag of any items you would like to the take out for your hike back (dry clothes, shoes, etc). We will have your belongings ready for you when you arrive at the suspension bridge.
#2 Get off at the Suspension Bridge
- Be ready when you see the Suspension Bridge! You can exit on the left shore just before the Suspension Bridge.
- At the end of your float, a shore lunch will be provided. At this time you can get ready for your hike and change into different clothes if necessary.
#3 Arrive at your car
- Your hike back to the parking lot will start on the other side of the suspension bridge. The 3.6 km hike follows the channel back up to the Diversion Dam.
